Samantha Hirschhorn, Dixie's Mom
When I picked my new puppy Dixie out of a brand new litter from a top breeder, I was sure that her show dog genes would provide me with a perfectly healthy pet. Once we brought her home, we realized that was most certainly not the case. From chronic stomach and dietary issues requiring many visits to the vet, to lifelong restricted dietary regimens requiring prescription food, Dixie was no inexpensive puppy from the get-go. Her first year with us ended with her hospitalization requiring a lifelong prescription to antidepressants. Throughout her years, Dixie was also diagnosed with epilepsy, extreme seasonal allergies, and colitis. Unfortunately, love is not enough to heal all of these things, and Dixie quickly became the most expensive child in our house. We wish we'd known about Petplan's lifelong cover back then.
