The Petplan Veterinary Awards seek to honor veterinary professionals who go above and beyond to provide pets with an exceptional level of health care – and their parents with exemplary customer service. In short, they celebrate the best in the business of healing furry friends.

New to the Vet Awards this year is the Practice of the Year category, which lets happy pet parents pay tribute to the entire practice that serves their pets. So what makes a great vet practice? Read the following nominations to learn what pet parents pick as the most award-worthy characteristics of vet clinics – and nominate your favorite practice today!

Town ‘N’ Country Animal Hospital, Practice of the Year nominee

“This practice has a warm, compassionate, friendly staff with excellent, caring veterinarians and technicians. They know my 'crew' when they come in, which is often, and the front desk staff will always get me in on a minute’s notice. The wait time for appointments is short, if at all. It is always clean, bright and displayed information is up to date as are exam rooms' 'wait' literature and magazines. Rooms are always inviting and smell fresh, the foods are neatly displayed, and the board and grooming facilities are exceptional. They are AAHA-approved and it means a lot to me. I was an emergency vet tech for 30 years, and they respect my knowledge and always consider my findings when they field my phone calls. Follow-up calls and phone messages have always been prompt, as are their reminder mailings and even, sadly, their sympathy cards. The staff is always good about recommendations on health maintenance products and encouraging insurance, yet they are not pushy. They have my vote!” – Claire K., Burlington NC

Arlington Animal Clinic, Practice of the Year nominee

“I am a first-time dog owner, and I have a 6-lb., very nervous Yorkie. When I was looking for a vet, I called quite a few places, but Arlington Animal Clinic was the only place where the front desk person actually took the time (20 mins.) to speak with me and answer all my questions. I have had to bring my dog in quite a bit, and every time I call them, I am able to speak with someone right away and bring her right in. EVERYONE in that office is kind and caring, including the man who keeps it spotlessly clean. I have never had to wait very long (despite it being a very busy practice) to see my vet. If he isn't there on the day that I call, I am always able to see someone else who is just as kind. I NEVER feel rushed no matter how busy the place is and how many dumb questions I have. I LOVE Arlington Animal Clinic and I am so grateful to have found them!!” – Susan N., Chelsea MA

Stack Veterinary Hospital, Practice of the Year nominee

“Stack Veterinary Hospital in Syracuse, NY, is an amazing place. All of the staff members are incredible, from the receptionists to the vet techs, to Dr. Dan Stack. My dog Eden loves going to the vet, and I love the care she receives. It’s an amazing place and I recommend it to every pet owner I know. I trust them 100% and I know that Eden is getting the best care possible from the Stack team. I was worried about taking Eden to the vet at first because I was afraid it would stress her out or scare her; instead, the Stack team makes her visits fun and Eden gets so much love and attention. If I say, ‘Eden, let’s go see Dr. Dan!’ she runs out to the car and barks with excitement. They have always provided prompt answers to my first-time-puppy-mom questions and have made me feel like an important client. I cannot say enough about Stack and especially gentle, kind Dr. Dan!” – Nicole C., Marietta NY
