Every Rose Has its Thorn

You can find a full list of risky blooms on the ASPCA website.

Vets for Pets
(Our latest blogs to boost your pet health prowess!)

Brush up on Dental Care February is Pet Dental Health Month, so now is a great time to reassess your pet's dental health with a visit to the veterinarian. Polls show that only 2% of pet owners brush their four-legged friends' teeth. Periodontal disease is easy to prevent - it can even be a treat! An independent dental test showed that dogs that ate the dental health treats Greenies® on a daily basis saw a 69% reduction in tartar and a 10.5% reduction in plaque. Get more tips to keep those chompers clean on our blog here and make sure the next pet kiss you get will be from a healthy mouth!

Sick as a dog Did you know that dogs can get the flu too? In fact, up to 80% of dogs who come in contact with the H3N8 virus (the flu for dogs) become infected. Not all dogs that contract the virus will show symptoms, but they can still be carriers for the virus. Dr. Jules Benson talks about canine influenza and steps you can take to prevent it on our Petplan blog.

January's Contest Winner
"Christmas was a fun but hectic this year, as it was the first time we hosted the entire family (BOTH sides!) at our new house. Unfortunately, with everybody coming and going, we lost track of Scooter, our two-year old Maltese. He just slipped out the door one afternoon. As soon as we noticed, we all piled into our cars and scoured the neighborhood, with no luck. We made flyers, called neighbors, and even paid to have an ad put in the local newspaper. Still no response. We were really worried, especially because it was very cold and the forecast was calling for snow.
Then, amazingly, a week after he went missing, a nice man showed up at our house with the best Christmas present ever - Scooter! Apparently, Scooter had been hiding out in a warm garage several miles away! How he got there, we'll never know.
Thankfully, we have our Scooter back, safe and sound. And thanks to our Petplan insurance, we were reimbursed for ALL of our advertising expenses as well!"
