Serve up a snack that’s filled with autumnal flair thanks to this frightfully delightful recipe:
Pumpkin Dog Biscuits
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup white flour
1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon water
2 tablespoons dry milk
1/3 cup corn meal
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup oats
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
To make this recipe:
Remember to keep treats to less than 10 percent of your pet's daily caloric intake to maintain a healthy diet.
Mix ingredients together to a thick consistency. Roll out dough about a quarter-inch thick on a cooking sheet. Cut into two-inch long strips and arrange them on a cookie sheet. Bake for one hour at 350 F. For extra crunch, turn off the oven and allow the biscuits to sit overnight (out of paws' reach).
Check with your veterinarian before trying a new recipe for your pet, to ensure your efforts – and your furry friends! – are appropriately rewarded. For more inspiring ideas, visit our homemade pet food recipes board on Pinterest.
Raising Howl on Puppy Mills - In early September, the USDA announced a new rule to establish greater federal oversight of puppy mills and online dog sales, closing a regulatory loophole and requiring commercial breeders who sell their puppies directly to the public to be licensed and inspected by the USDA. Visit The Humane Society of the United States' website to learn more about this landmark achievement for animal rights.

“Two years ago Bastrop experienced the biggest fire in the state of Texas. Dr. Greg Maynard worked around the clock on burned animals, not leaving his office for days to save and heal the wounds of animals – regardless if they were his patients!”
– Nancy M., Bastrop, TX
“Stack Veterinary Hospital in Syracuse, NY, is an amazing place. I was worried about taking my dog Eden to the vet at first because I was afraid it would stress her out; instead, the Stack team makes her visits fun. I cannot say enough about Stack and especially gentle, kind Dr. Dan!”
– Nicole C., Marietta, NY
“Ashley Middendorf prides herself on connections with clients and making sure that they are well-informed on their pets. Besides being a technician, Ashley participates in many local functions and works with a rescue, No Dog Left Behind.”
– Carrie E., Foley, MN
