Quinoa is a highly nutritious seed and a good source of fiber and protein. Easily add it into your dog’s dinner menu with this tasty summer snack from Dr. Ernie Ward. NOTE: Kale, spinach and broccoli should be avoided in dogs with kidney disease or certain types of bladder stones.
1 - 14 1/2 oz can or 3 1/2 cups cooked salmon
1 cup chopped kale
1/2 cup chopped green beans
1 cup cooked quinoa
1 Tbsp kelp powder
To make this recipe:
Place the kale and beans in a blender or food processor and blend until minced or puréed. In a bowl, combine vegetable mixture, salmon, quinoa and kelp powder and mix thoroughly. Divide into portions appropriate for your pet’s caloric intake. Makes 6 cups. 237 calories per cup.
Remember to keep treats to less than 10 percent of your pet's daily caloric intake to maintain a healthy diet.
