In 2008, I enrolled my Akita, Teddy, in a Petplan pet insurance policy, and I’m really very glad I did. Over the next two years, Teddy had a series of three illnesses. While my vet bills totaled more than $6,000, I was only responsible for $150.
As a result of my experience with Petplan, including prompt and full payment of my claims, I brought the program in-house to my employer, United Nations Federal Credit Union. We also included our 36,000 US Credit Union members. Unsurprisingly, we have had no employee or member complaints. In fact many of our employees have gone out of their way to compliment us on the inclusion of the program!
