Petplan Pet Insurance Proudly Announces Innovative Collaboration with North Shore Animal League America

05/18/11

America’s top rated pet insurance provider and world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization join together to make available Adopter’s Advantage

PHILADELPHIA (May 18, 2011) - Petplan Pet Insurance, America’s top rated pet insurance provider, and North Shore Animal League America (NSALA), the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization, home of the Mutt-i-grees® Movement, today are proud to announce the creation and launch of an innovative pet health program, which is being piloted for all adopted pets from the Animal League.

Petplan and NSALA will make available Adopter’s Advantage, an introductory pet insurance policy that provides 30 days of complimentary pet health insurance to all newly adopted pets from the Animal League. Aimed at helping pet parents to provide the best veterinary care possible while also reducing relinquishments, Adopter’s Advantage covers accidents, illnesses, surgeries and prescription medications. During this initial 30 day period, the Adopter’s Advantage policy provides claim coverage of up to $1,000.

“We are truly excited by our new relationship with North Shore Animal League America as both organizations share a strong commitment to pet health and well-being,” said Natasha Ashton, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Petplan. “The opportunity to work with such a highly-regarded organization in an effort to ensure outstanding veterinary care to adopted pets was simply one that we could not ignore. The team at the Animal League has proven to be as passionate, caring and focused on pet health as our Petplan team, which is why the collaboration is expected to yield such an exceptional benefit for new pet parents via Adopter’s Advantage.”

J. John Stevenson, President of North Shore Animal League America concurs, stating, “Adopters come to North Shore Animal League America because they know that they will get the support and benefits that are needed when bringing a new family member into their home. This collaboration with Petplan, to create Adopter’s Advantage, will allow us to provide an extremely important healthcare benefit that will add another level of comfort for adopters.”

Unlike other trial offers, Adopter’s Advantage policy does not require activation - every pet leaving the shelter will automatically be covered for 30 days. All Adopter’s Advantage policyholders have multiple opportunities to upgrade that policy into one of Petplan’s other policies that offer up to $20,000 in annual coverage.
