Originally from Lancashire, England, Dr. Benson is a graduate of the University of Liverpool Vet School. After coming to the U.S. in 2004, he has worked in a small animal practice outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After a long professional association with Petplan, Dr. Benson joined full time as Director of Veterinary Services in June of 2008 but, unable to leave it behind, still loves practicing veterinary medicine part-time. In addition to his veterinary degree, Dr. Benson also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Conservation Medicine and is a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Prior to completing his veterinary education, Dr. Benson worked in the insurance industry in the UK with Axa Equity and Law and also spent a year in Africa as part of a wildlife conservation project. In his spare time he enjoys exercising, reading, travel, music and movies and holds a PADI Rescue Diver certification.

Dr. Benson has 2 cats (Jackie O and Westley) and a leopard gecko (Charlie).
