news contests pawprints from the season’s hottest pet news mellow yellow Good news for furry friends who may be wary about interacting on walks: the global Yellow Dog Project is working to educate the public about approaching dogs who are fearful of other animals or people, recovering from surgery (or in pain due to a medical condition) or companions “in training,” who may not have nailed down their manners just yet. The project encourages pet parents to tie a yellow ribbon to their pup’s leash to identify those who need to be approached with extra care. They hope that this universal signal will help give trepidatious dogs the space they need. The project is gaining ground, but its success hinges on sharing the yellow ribbon’s meaning — so spread the word! beginners’ muck On May 31, Petplan’s twolegged workforce will be participating for the first time in the MuckFest MS — right on our headquarters’ campus! This filthy, fun-filled 5K obstacle course supports the National Multiple Sclerosis Society — and we’re raising funds to help bring MS Service Dogs to people in need. Petplan is an official sponsor of the race, and so far we’re inching close to 100% paw-ticipation from staff! Events are being held in 10 cities around the country.
