Wellington isn’t only the Dog-in-Chief for America’s fastest growing pet insurance, Petplan — he's also a client. “Welly is the poster child for pet insurance,” admits his pet parent, Natasha Ashton, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Petplan. From chronic allergies to bladder stones and mitral valve disease (a genetic heart disease that affects more than half of all Cavaliers by age 5), Welly has toyed with a number of health issues over the past nine years.
But his biggest claim to fame is perhaps his penchant for chocolates — and playing innocent. Ever the clever canine, Wellington carefully unwrapped and ate an entire box of chocolates, 30 in all. “Of course, he never admitted it, but given the evidence, he was caught red-handed on that one! Or should I say, chocolate-pawed!”
When he’s not putting the finishing licks on the latest issue of fetch!, Welly, like many toy breed dogs, can be found in his favorite place: the nearest warm chair. “What can I say,” laughs Natasha. “It must be hard work being so loved and spoiled.”
