  • Is it free to enroll my pets in a Petplan policy?
  • Yes! With Petplan, there is never an enrollment fee. Better yet, Petplan offers a free 30-day money back guarantee. Our goal is to make it as easy and economical as possible for you to get the best pet health insurance solution for you and your four-legged family member.

  • When does my Petplan policy become effective?
  • Petplan policies are effective at 12:01am (EST) the day after enrollment. There is a 24-hour waiting period for accidents, a 14-day waiting period for illnesses and a six (6)-month exclusion for problems associated with cruciates and patellas (knees).
  • Is it possible for any of the waiting periods to be waived?
  • Yes! To provide you with ultimate peace of mind, we offer an option to have the exclusion for your pet’s knees waived. Simply visit your vet within the first 30 days of your policy and request that your pet’s knees be certified as healthy.
  • Are medical history records required as a part of the enrollment process?
  • While all applications are subject to underwriting review, medical records are not typically required for enrollment. Based on your pet’s medical history, records may be requested if: your pet is currently taking medication; your pet has had a recent injury or illness; you are re-enrolling your pet with a Petplan policy after there has been a break in coverage.
  • Can I insure my older dog/cat with Petplan?
  • Yes! We have no upper age limits, which means any dog or cat over the age of six (6) weeks can be protected with Petplan pet insurance.
  • What if I am unsure of my pet's birth date?
  • If you do not know your pet’s exact date of birth, simply provide your best estimate.  If you do not know the approximate age of your pet, your veterinarian will be able to give you an estimate based on a physical examination.   • Are discounts available on Petplan policies?
  • Does Petplan offer a money back guarantee?
  • Yes! We offer a 30-day money back guarantee. If, within the first 30 days of your policy you wish to cancel, we will provide you with a full refund. Please note that if you cancel your policy within 30 days, but after you have been reimbursed for a claim, we will be unable to reimburse your first month’s premium.
