the journey of life
For some puppies, their journey into this world can be as interesting as their time in it. That’s certainly the case for Doc, a three-month-old Shiloh Shepherd who was conceived via artificial insemination. “The breeder said that if the procedure worked, they would name the puppy after the doctor, but Doc was a cuter name than Dwight,” laughs pet parent and Harvard University PhD candidate Hillery Metz. For Hillery, the decision to protect Doc with pet insurance was an easy one. “Doc’s breeder checked out all the different pet insurance companies and found that Petplan was the best. We knew that signing up was the smart thing to do. We felt sure it would only be a matter of time before something happened.” Only three months of age and 30 lovable pounds, Doc has already battled minor bouts of dermatitis and kennel cough. With Shiloh Shepherds’ predisposition towards problems such as panosteitis (a painful bone disease), bloat, and hip dysplasia, knowing that Doc is protected by Petplan makes all the difference in the world.
